If you are beginning your creative career today, you are entering the industry at an extraordinary moment.
Technology is changing how we create. AI is changing how quickly we can explore possibilities. Platforms are changing how people consume ideas. But one thing remains unchanged: human understanding is still at the heart of great creativity.
Learn the tools, but don’t become dependent on them.
Go outside. Observe people. Listen to conversations. Travel. Ask questions. Understand your culture. Pay attention to the small behaviours everyone else ignores.
And don’t build your career around awards.
Build it around great work. Awards may follow.
Learn from senior creatives, but develop your own point of view. Study international work, but don’t copy international work. The world doesn’t need another version of someone else’s creativity.
Most importantly, remain curious.
Your greatest advantage as a young creative isn’t knowing everything. It’s having the courage to question everything.
Make work that gets noticed. But whenever possible, make work that matters.
